I.B.172

From Li & Liao (2017)

I.B.172 is a periodic orbit of the planar three-body problem: three equal masses that return to their starting positions and velocities every 120.72 time units, published by Li & Liao (2017). Class I.B orbits, for equal and unequal masses. It is unstable (largest Floquet multiplier 442.4), so a small nudge makes it unravel over a few periods. The bodies pass within 0.000138 of each other at a top speed of 85.3, line up 268 times a period, and the computed loop closes to 4.6×10⁻¹⁷.
