I.B.3

m₃ = 8

From Li & Liao (2017)

I.B.3 m₃ = 8 is a periodic orbit of the planar three-body problem: three masses in the ratio 1 : 1 : 8 that return to their starting positions and velocities every 86.701 time units, published by Li & Liao (2017). Class I.B orbits, for equal and unequal masses. It is weakly unstable (largest Floquet multiplier 6.031), so a small nudge makes it unravel over a few periods. The bodies pass within 0.000169 of each other at a top speed of 29, line up 396 times a period, and the computed loop closes to 2.4×10⁻²³.
